Best of 2017: New York City trip Part II

For three hours you get a complete circle around Manhattan and a side trip to Liberty and Ellis Island on the architectural boat tour and an architect talks almost the entire time pointing out the highlights along the way.  It is same company that does the ones in Chicago on the Chicago River and both are so worth it.  This tour gave some great views of the skyline without something interfering with the view.  More to come in Part III, on a three hour tour, a three hour tour…

Best of 2017 : New York City trip Part I

May took us to visit daughters in New York City and highlight was taking an architectural tour of Manhattan by boat.   These photos are a trip first to the Whitney Museum and walking down to the pier to meet the boat.

Moving on through April, a good case of shingles, couple of leftovers from Minneapolis area parks and photos of a business trip to North Dakota to Bismarck, with a detour on the Enchanted Highway to see unique sculptures.

Best of 2017: Jan – March

Series of my favorite photos I took this year.  Some from a architectural tour in Lille France, and some from the winter landscape of Minnesota.  A close up off our temporary golden retriever, Willie.

An Epic (Fail?) Business Campus

When I was driving home  in 2016 and saw some of the wild buildings of the Epic Systems Business Campus in Verona, WI I had to stop and check it out.  This is like no business campus I know of.  To me it seems to be the Las Vegas version of a business campus, everything is larger than life and bizarre take on Midwest life.  The four story barn office building, the overlarge country home, the ginormous office/training centers.   Lots of our health care dollars going into this campus.  I could see future buildings were going to mimic a castle and something akin to Hogwarts.  This is one wacked place, worth a visit if you are in the Madison,WI area.

And then it come to a screeching halt…

It was like whiplash, the warm mild Fall with its color, met the coming winter prematurely and with a vengeance in late October.
